Learn the lean fundamentals and practice applying various lean tools in an interactive, exciting environment. Lean 101 utilizes learning and applying through a unique simulation process. Throughout the day, participants will act out a manufacturing company’s transition to lean by following a learn-and-do approach. The day of training consists of an overview of lean, specific lean tools, how they can impact your particular business, and preview how it all works in a simulated factory setting.
This is the flow of the day:
Overview of Lean – Classroom time and introduction to the simulated factory
Factory Simulation #1 – Traditional Batch Manufacturing System
Lean Tools Training – One hour of classroom time introducing lean principles and tools, including walking through what worked and what didn't in the simulation
Factory Simulation #2 – Maximum Traditional Manufacturing System
Lunch Break
Additional Lean Tools Training – One hour of classroom time introducing additional lean principals and tools, including walking through what worked and what didn't in the simulation
Factory Simulation #3 – Pull System
Additional Lean Tools Training – One hour of classroom time introducing additional lean principals and tools, including walking through what worked and what didn't in the simulation
Factory Simulation #4 – Lean Enterprise System
Wrap up
Following the fourth simulation, the day will be recapped with an emphasis on how lean can work for specific companies. Participants not only learn the tools, but they will also identify the changes and prove they improved the process via the simulation and monitoring results throughout.
Participants see how the lean tools and culture transform a manufacturing company from a traditional push manufacturing company to a lean enterprise. Following each simulation, participants will look at metrics related to lead time, production output, quality, inventory, revenue, and profit.
Lunch and snacks will be provided. Total class time including lunch is between 8-8.5 hours. Class attendance is capped at 20 people.
