What is the Lean Enterprise Certification Program?
This program helps manufacturers build internal capacity by providing their key staff with a working knowledge of the principles and practices of Lean. Achieving a Lean Knowledge Certificate consists of a combination of classroom instruction, practical application, and a final examination.
Why Lean Enterprise Certification?
Lean Enterprise Certification is used to assist manufacturers in preparing their workforce for developing and implementing Lean initiatives. The Certification provides workers with knowledge, credentials, and a nationally recognized certification – a standards examination developed by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), Association for Manufacturing Excellence (AME), and the Shingo Institute – provides manufacturers with a qualified workforce who understands and can enable Lean.
What is included in the Lean Enterprise Certification Program?
There are a total of thirty-two classroom hours that include several hands-on simulations to aid in the learning process. The course begins with learning the Fundamentals of Lean and is followed by Value Stream Mapping, Workplace Organization (5S), Standardized Work, Quick Changeover and Total Productive Maintenance, Pull/Kanban and Cellular Manufacturing, and lastly High-Performance Teams and Problem Solving.
There will also be a minimum of twenty-four practical hours designed to have participants apply their training to help identify and address improvement opportunities within their organization.
In addition, there will be a program review in order to prepare participants for passing the Lean Enterprise Certification examination.
