2019 Kentucky Lean Study Mission Trip

October 21 - October 24, 2019

Discover first-hand what is at the heart of the lean business model through a series of Gemba walks, talks, and peer networking. You will be able to see the tools and systems of operational excellence in action. The various companies and manufacturers we visit will demonstrate fundamental practices such as 5S, visual management, problem solving, standardized work, quality at the source, safety, continuous flow, intelligent automation, and much more. 

Lean expert and co-author of Toyota Culture, Mike Hoseus will be joining us this year to lead the group on Gemba walks and discussions about how to implement what we see in the factory floors into our own companies back home.

Evening Speaker Cheryl Jones 

"Cheryl has experience in both manufacturing and administration within Toyota having served as vice president of Toyota Engineering and Manufacturing of America (TEMA). She began her career as an assembly manufacturing supervisor, eventually achieving vice president of Manufacturing during her 22 years with the company. Cheryl retired in 2009.

Her extensive knowledge of the Toyota Production System knowledge encompasses final vehicle assembly, robotic processes using solvent borne and waterborne paints, and parts delivery from supplier to vehicle assembly. She also served as vice president of Powertrain, Production Control, Building Facilities, diversity advisor, and senior advisor to the Women's Leadership Network Organization and Operations Development Group."
